My trading name, Eloquence, comes from the Latin Eloquentia: the ability to communicate clearly, precisely, and persuasively. This principle is at the heart of how I work, shaping an approach built on accuracy, professionalism, and a direct, personal relationship with every client.

Mark Tiberi

I am a translator, interpreter, and Business English trainer with over 30 years of combined experience in the language sector and corporate roles in international business.

I was born in Epsom, Surrey, and grew up between Italy and the United Kingdom, developing an instinctive understanding of both languages and cultures. I am a native Italian speaker, fully bilingual in English and Italian, and I hold a BA in Business Administration and an MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance from City University Business School in London.

I began my career in 1995 in management consulting and international media companies, working in business planning and management accounting. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how international businesses operate.

I have been working as a professional Italian-English translator and interpreter since 2005, and I am registered in this capacity with both the Court of Rome and the Rome Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to my translation and interpreting work, I have been working as a Business English trainer for companies and professionals since 2015. My training builds on both my linguistic expertise and my direct experience in international business environments.

Outside work, I enjoy travel, photography, theatre, and writing, all of which enrich my linguistic and cultural awareness.

PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATIONS

I provide standard, certified, and sworn document translation services from English into Italian and from Italian into English. Where necessary, I also handle the legalisation of documents for use abroad, either through an Apostille (for countries that are party to the Hague Convention) or through consular legalisation. I specialise in technical, legal, financial, and official documents (see below for a complete list).

Additional Services

In addition to translation services, I offer the following

Administrative Support Services

I provide professional assistance with a wide range of administrative and bureaucratic procedures in Italy. My services include obtaining Italian criminal record certificates (casellario giudiziale) and certificates of pending charges (carichi pendenti), requesting official certificates and records, arranging notarised copies, and handling Apostilles, legalisations, and consular visas. I liaise directly with public authorities such as courts, public prosecutors’ offices, prefectures, and consulates, ensuring an efficient and reliable service designed to save clients time.

Italian Document Drafting

In some cases, rather than translating a document from English, it may be more effective to draft it directly in Italian. This service involves close collaboration with the client and is particularly useful when content needs to be adapted to Italian language conventions and cultural expectations (e.g. formal letters, official statements, CVs, or marketing copy).

Italian Citizenship Application Support

I assist foreign nationals with Italian citizenship applications, providing support throughout the collection, verification, and preparation of the required documentation. This may include obtaining official certificates, translating and certifying documents, and arranging legalisation procedures (Apostille or consular legalisation), depending on the country of origin. Where necessary, I liaise with municipalities, courts, prefectures, and consulates to ensure a smooth and coordinated process.

Business Interpreting

I provide whispered (chuchotage) and consecutive interpreting services, primarily for business meetings, guided visits, and commercial negotiations, both in person and via videoconference. A short preparatory briefing is required for this type of assignment, including the meeting agenda and any relevant documents or background information.

BUSINESS ENGLISH TRAINING

I help professionals and organisations communicate more effectively in English, with confidence and credibility. With an Italian-English background and over twenty years of experience in international corporate environments, my training combines linguistic expertise with a strong understanding of workplace communication.

Training Approach

Training is pragmatic and tailored to each client. Each course is based on a needs analysis and focuses on improving communication in workplace situations, such as meetings, presentations, negotiations, emails, conference calls, and working with international colleagues and clients.

Sessions may include practical case studies, simulations, and role plays, with a focus on levels of formality and the appropriate use of register depending on context. Wherever possible, training uses the participant’s or company’s own materials (e.g. emails, documents, presentations, or operational processes), making the content immediately relevant.

Training can be delivered on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, supporting real progress and the development of skills that can be applied straight away. The objective is not simply to improve English, but to strengthen confidence and credibility in its professional use.

FAQs – TRANSLATIONS

Aren’t translations nowadays done by machines and AI tools?

Machine translation tools and AI applications can be extremely useful for understanding the meaning of a text. They are also undeniably faster than human translators and often highly accurate.

However, when a fully reliable translation is required, human expertise remains essential. In addition to occasional “hallucinations”, automated systems may produce errors in meaning, misinterpret context, or fail to capture linguistic nuances, cultural references, and idiomatic expressions.

When certified, sworn, or otherwise officially validated translations are required, there is no real alternative to the involvement of a professional translator, as machine-generated translations do not currently have any official or legal value.

What is the difference between standard, professional, official, certified, sworn, and legalised translations?

Let’s clarify this terminology, which can be confusing:

Standard translations (traduzioni libere in Italian) are translations without certification or legal value, even when carried out by a qualified professional translator.

Certified translations are signed and stamped by the translator and are usually sufficient for documents intended for use outside Italy, where they are generally accepted as official translations.

Sworn translations (commonly referred to as “asseverated” translations in Italy, or traduzioni giurate) are formally sworn by the translator before a court and are generally required for legal use in Italy. The sworn statement is formalised through an oath report (verbale di giuramento), drawn up in Italian and signed by both the translator and the court clerk, with the relevant stamp duties applied.

When a sworn translation is to be used outside Italy, it may also need to be legalised, either through an Apostille or consular legalisation, depending on the destination country.

Depending on the specific case, I help clients identify the simplest and most cost-effective solution, bearing in mind that sworn translations and legalisation procedures involve additional steps, longer turnaround times, and extra costs.

Which languages do you offer translation services for and who are your clients?

I personally translate only from Italian into English and from English into Italian.  However, with over twenty years of experience in the field, I collaborate with a carefully selected network of professional native-speaking translators covering many other languages, including Spanish, French, Portuguese, Romanian, Polish, Albanian, Ukrainian, Arabic (Egyptian), and Filipino. This allows me to offer additional language combinations while remaining your single point of contact throughout the process.

I have translated an estimated 50,000+ pages of technical, financial, and legal documentation, primarily for companies in the energy, transport, and civil engineering sectors, as well as for law firms.

I also work extensively with private clients, particularly on documents relating to education (such as diplomas, transcripts, and certificates), criminal record certificates, civil registry certificates, and other documents required for university applications, relocation abroad, or employment contracts.

How much does a translation cost and what are the turnaround times?

The cost of a translation depends on the length of the text, the type of translation, and the language combination. As a general indication, standard or certified translations range from €20 to €30 per page (1 page = 1,500 characters, approximately 210 words).

Short standard or certified translations (fewer than 10 pages) are typically completed within 2–3 working days.

For sworn and/or legalised translations, costs and turnaround times depend on the specific case, as these procedures involve additional steps with courts, prefectures, or consulates.

To receive a quote and turnaround time, simply get in touch.

How can I request a quote? Do you need the original document?

To request a quote, simply send me the document via the contact form on the website or by email. In most cases, a file, scan, or clear photograph of the document is sufficient (front and back if there are stamps, annotations, or other markings).

The original document is usually required only for sworn translations or for specific legalisation procedures.

I normally respond to quote requests within 24 hours on business days.

All documents are treated with the utmost confidentiality and used exclusively for quotation and translation purposes.

FAQs – BUSINESS ENGLISH TRAINING

Who is Business English Training for?

The training is designed for professionals, managers, and corporate teams who use English in their work and want to communicate with greater confidence and effectiveness in international contexts.

I work particularly with engineers, lawyers, and academics, as well as with managers and professionals from other sectors. Around half of my courses are delivered as one-to-one sessions, while the other half involve corporate teams or small groups.

The training is especially beneficial for those who need to take part in meetings, presentations, conference calls, or negotiations in English, and more generally for anyone who works and communicates with international colleagues or clients.

Do I need to have a minimum level of English before starting a Business English course?

Courses are generally aimed at professionals who already have an intermediate level of English (B1–B2) and want to improve their confidence and effectiveness in professional communication. For group courses, it is important that participants have a similar level so that the training is effective for everyone.

For individual courses, I usually offer an initial consultation free of charge. This provides an opportunity to assess the participant’s starting level, discuss their professional goals, and determine whether the training approach is suited to their needs.

What is the difference between a Business English trainer and an English teacher?

A Business English trainer does not simply teach English, but focuses on effective communication in a professional context, particularly spoken communication. Grammar is corrected where necessary, but the emphasis is on clarity and credibility in workplace situations.

My training approach combines corporate experience and linguistic expertise. On the one hand, my experience in international business environments enables me to work on real-life professional communication scenarios. On the other, my bilingual and bicultural background allows me to address common mistakes Italians make in English—those that most affect communication and professional credibility.

How is the training delivered? How long does a course last?

The training is pragmatic and tailored to the individual. Courses are designed based on the participant’s starting level, professional goals, and the most relevant communication situations for the individual or team.

Sessions last 60 or 90 minutes and are typically held once or twice a week, either one-to-one or in small groups (usually 4 to 8 participants), primarily in person. The overall duration varies according to needs, ranging from a few months to a year-long programme.

Between sessions, brief practical tasks may be assigned, such as preparing a pitch or simulating a negotiation. The aim is not to set “homework”, but to ensure that participants come to each session ready to use English in a professional context.

How much does a Business English course cost?

The cost depends on several factors, including the type of training (individual or group), the number of participants, the objectives, and the duration of the course. For this reason, each course is tailored to specific requirements.

You are welcome to get in touch by phone or email for further information. In most cases, a follow-up meeting is then useful to define the course format, objectives, and costs in detail.
